Hello Lovely Friends! I hope all of you had an amazing holiday and new year season, I most definitely enjoyed mine.  Can you even believe it is already a month into 2024, wow time is flying! I wanted to share a project with you I recently completed.  I love vintage everything, including fashion, and that was my inspiration for this project.  I made a set of six party invitations with handmade floral envelopes.  I even went a step further and tried my hand at some wax seals for the very first time!  This set is listed for sale on my website.  You can find them here >  vintage inspired origami dress party invitations There is a channel on YouTube called Gi Kerr that I came across three years ago.  She is an absolutely delightful English woman that makes the prettiest crafts centered around junk journals.  I watched one of her older videos that teaches how to make origami vintage dresses.  I made several projects in the past with ...

Exploring For Fabulous Vintage Finds

Image
Hi Everyone! It has been a minute for sure.  I have been having some great down time to reflect, spend time with the Lord, and of course do some creating.  It is a cloudy and rainy afternoon here in North Texas today.  The temperature is quite lovely though in the high 60s.  I hope all of you have been doing well.  We are now well into the new year. I wanted to share some great vintage finds I have come across the past couple of months.  I very much enjoy exploring and looking for older items to use in my craft area and my creations.  There is just something endearing about items made many years ago.  The craftmanship, the quality, and the beauty are enchanting and charming to me.  I admire the obvious love and care that went into the manufacturing of years gone by.  Come along with me as I share a few treasures I have recently found, and how I am using them. To look for these unique and lovely finds, I shop a variety of venues....

2022 Update

Image
Wow, it has been a few minutes since my last post!  Life has been a definite roller coaster this past year, but all glory be to God for all things!  I have managed to make a few products this past year, so let me recap. I am always making tassels to sell and use for embellishments for junk journals, this has not changed.  I have started a monthly Tassel Club that you can sign up for.  The cost will be $22 per month.  This is limited to the Continental US and shipping will be free (included in the monthly subscription price).  Each month you will receive a new handmade tassel I create from fabrics, ribbons, and trims.  Sometimes they will have charms.  They will always be attached to a keyring or toggle ring that allows you to attach the tassel to journals, backpacks, purses, etc.  Each month will be a different tassel.  I use themes and seasonal colors and holidays to create my tassels.  I will post pictures below of some I ha...

Vintage Jewelry, Plastics

Image
Hi Everyone! Let me begin by wishing all of you a very Happy New Year!  Wow, did 2021 fly by or what?!?  I pray wonderful blessings for each and every one of you in 2022! Now let's talk some plastics, vintage plastic jewelry that is.  When I opened my vintage Etsy shop in the Summer of 2013 I knew nothing about vintage jewelry.  I am still no expert by any means, but I have learned a few things in the past 8.5 years.  I have also discovered the plastics are some of my favorite pieces.  I think it is the bright colors mixed with the variety.  From bakelite to lucite to figural pieces, it has definitely found a warm spot in my heart. In my Etsy shop, The Velvet Flea, you can find a nice variety of lovely and fun vintage plastic pieces.  I usually always have some Bakelite and Lucite pieces hanging out, along with some other interesting and unique items.  If you are a collector, or know one, you will definitely find something to love....
